Bach Cantata Listener's Guide

Cantata 200

  • Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary
  • Epistle: Malacai iii. 1-4 (The Lord shall suddenly come to His temple)
  • Gospel: Luke ii. 22-32 (Simeon prophesies of Christ)
  • Rating: 2+?

All that's left of this cantata is a sad little fragment containing an alto aria. It's really quite good and well worth a listen. But, alas, that's all.
