This fourth volume in MD&G's ongoing series dedicated to Satie's piano music may be the most interesting yet. The continuation of the massive Vexations cycle brings such other exquisite rarities as the Six and Seven pieces coupled with the extensive 'Carnet d'equisses', another long winded work.

Those familiar with Satie's minimalist style will enjoy this fascinating music, a combination of many styles but forged into a personal and distinct message. Without doubt it is the Vexations that thrills the listener with a constant repetition of a note on the bass that almost becomes maddening yet at the same time, all is strangely mystical in its recurrence.

Schleiermacher is already famous for his Satie interpretations and he gives well nigh definitive accounts of the music on disc. Collectors of this series will obviously snap up this important volume.
