This is the same set of 24 Preludes, Op. 28 reviewed in depth by Robert Cummings as part of Naïve OP30494 in 2010. To his remarks I can add very little, save that if you want the Preludes and not the entire four disc set, then this is currently the disc to get. LA Naïve is a new series of mid-price reissues from that labels' archive. So far, they seem incredibly well chosen and attractively packaged. The notes are clearly aimed at beginners and novice collectors, which seems off for a specialty European label. They are also ridiculously unwieldy; to read said notes, you unfold the booklet like a map.

If that doesn't bother you, you'll find this disc richly rewarding. Mr. Cummings earlier remarks regarding both the highly individual tempo choices, as well as how right those seem both ring true to my ears. Sokolov plays with a tremendous amount of conviction, and anyone who loves the Op. 28 deserves to treat themselves to a listen.
