C.P.E. Bach is well known for his concertante works in which he sort of excelled for a long period where the form was extremely popular. I recall being bowled over by the virtuosity in his writing when listening to an old Classics for Pleasure tape of the harpsichord concertos for multiple instruments and in this disc, Wallfisch playing reminds me of those delightful sounds.

Each concerto has particular niceties and if one reads the exhaustive notes on each piece, the listening experience is made all the more intriguing. Wallfisch plays his instrument to the manner born and is easily at one with all the jumble of notes which Bach throws at him especially in the finales to the latter works which become quite complex.

The recordings are of top drawer quality with ideal balance between solo instrument and orchestra who also play with a disarming commitment to these scores. A nicely worked out disc, ideal for fans of the cello but also for those who are in to baroque music.
