Thomas Augustine Arne
(1710 - 1778)
Thomas Augustine Arne (March 2, 1710 - March 5, 1778) was an English composer; the most accomplished composer of operas, oratorios and other stage works of his generation. Though not many of his stage works are often performed today, his music was immensely popular in its day, and for decades afterward.
Arne's instrumental works display a firm grasp of the newer Rococo style introduced to London a few years before by Johann Christian Bach.
